Ecuador and Abortion

Last year, under the slogan "safe abortion" or "abortion: more, less risk," civil society organizations, feminists and pro-feminist, demanded through various media, the legalization of abortion in their country. And no wonder, since preliminary studies have postulated that about 33% of Ecuadorian women have experienced some type of abortion and is estimated to 95.000 abortions performed annually, but only recorded 200 legal tender, because as in the Most countries, abortion is only permitted when the mother's life is in danger, conceived as a result of rape or the fetus has birth defects. These civil society organizations have presented a great battle with conservative groups and a constitution which has stipulated that individuals exist from the moment the moment of conception.

Movements like Women's Health, have launched entire campaigns aimed at promoting contraceptive methods and abortion, is intended to inform and to some extent, re-educate the Ecuadorian about their rights and options if they want an abortion or get different types of contraceptive methods. Lesbians and Feminists also Decriminalization of Abortion by have taken the lead in the debate, and have even published books on abortion and contraception. How to get an abortion with pills in stating that, first of all, you must ensure that people in general and women in particular the right to be informed and arguing that, in countries whose democratic precepts of equality, social justice must legitimize the rights of women to decide about their sexuality and motherhood, about contraceptive methods they use and whether they wish to abort. In Ecuador, like other Latin American countries, government discourse is simply "irrelevant" in the words of Ecuadorians looking to improve their lives and that of their peers.
