The Right To Be Different
There once was a boy who could not see, was blind from birth and lived in a small town where there was only one school. A Rafaelito was hard to get to school, because sometimes his mother, who worked very hard, I could not let him go and at home, but learned to Rafaelito each day away from home and back, guided by the number of steps, sounds, smells and voices listened, while helping your staff. So it was that Rafi learned to go to school and back home, alone without help, more than his own.
One day it happened that one of their classmates Jack, did not return home after school, his mother thought he had been playing with his friends, as sometimes happened, however it is towards evening, and Jack did not come, the mother became concerned and began to search, no friend knew him. Rafaelito thought and thought and suddenly said: "I know where this", he ran to where her mother and said, "I know where this", but would not let him speak: "it is night, it's dark, we will suspend the search until dawn, "Rafaelito worried about Jack, he was afraid of the dark, grabbed his cane and started going to the old mining town, where coal was removed many years ago and where they sometimes met to play , it was guided by their "signs" and went on, there weeping heard Jacky, who was glad to see his friend and together they returned to the village where everyone prayed to find Jack. To see them get all rejoiced and hugged them both happy to see them safely. The people were very proud of their hero, who taught him a lesson to all those who believed that Rafaelito was a disabled child.
"A disability is not a tragedy, it is an inconvenience."
Disability means "restriction or lack (resulting from an impairment) of ability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human being. It includes functional limitations or restrictions on an activity that result from a deficiency. The disabilities are disorders that are defined in terms of how they affect a person's life. Examples of disabilities include difficulty seeing, speaking, or hearing usually moving or climbing stairs, or reaching to grasp an object, bathing, eating or toileting.
We all have faults and qualities, some defects are more obvious to them. Some outward and visible to the naked eye, others more internal, more difficult to detect.
Helen Keller is a figure that represents a great value among humans. A person full of faith, hope and optimism. Its status as blind, deaf and dumb, - until he learned to speak several languages, did not represent any obstacle for her to want to know, want to learn and try to see the world, write several books and above all give us a lesson in life, such of perseverance, hope, strength of will and love of life, faith.
"When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is produced in our life or that of others." (Helen Keller)
"I'm just a person. But I am still a person. I can not do everything, but I can do something. I will not refuse to do" something "I can do." (HK) "Night blindness has its wonders . On the night of ignorance and insensitivity is the only impenetrable darkness. The plight of the blind is immense, irreparable. But do not deprive us of our fellow human beings share with altruistic action, friendship, humor, imagination and wisdom. "(HK). Helen is an example of wanting to make a difference based on their abilities rather than disabilities, will always be an example of what he did, made and example of consistency brings. Few remember it so I could not achieve due to their disabilities.
"We must live by learning to recognize what good is evil and what is wrong with the good", if we base our lives on what we do not have, we will always be people with shortcomings, if you rely on our ability full potential and people will be carried out, and be able to give. "Learn to see the child as he is, love of truth is the principle of all education," not wanting to say we're limited by our beliefs that they can achieve or God forbid you to limit them because of our own limitations.
"Too many people consider us a strange phenomenon. When we walk around, stare at us as if we were a freak. For me, being disabled is like being in jail, but my chair (wheel) is a window why I can show my face to the sun. "(Andre Soewardjo, Indonesia) We must think and get in the position of others to understand them and understand what it is:" Do unto your neighbor what you do not want to you. " (Shabbat 31a).
Oscar Pistorius, South African athlete who both legs amputated as a baby due to a degenerative deformity. Today is an example for everyone and that despite its limited achievements runners to compete against "normal" in the Beijing Olympics. He holds the world record for its class at 100, 200 and 400 meters, and took the gold and bronze medals in the Paralympics in Athens 2004. It's a case that although his "challenge" was on the issue of his legs, is not dedicated to other areas where he could apply his other skills, but is dedicated to highlight the area where it presents its greatest challenges: his legs. The dreams that everyone has unlimited, as are the possibilities, when you dream, you have proof, hope, goals, will, faith.
Among the people who names the Torah we find some who possessed certain disabilities: Isaac was blind, Moses stuttered, Jacob was crippled, and many important things accomplished. They were never less for their disabilities. Instead of getting stuck with the thought "What if I can not do," they concentrated on what they knew they could achieve. With optimism, realism, persistence, focus on their chances objectively and above all their faith in Hashem.
The "special moms" of these children are to be people with great sensitivity, able to connect with their children at a level few achieve, are the "engines" that activate the full potential they have within each of these children, achieving "pull" out the best for their children and the best that each has within him.
I once read that God decided to send you very special angels to earth to help humans improve, in every "angel" had sent a message and learning for every one that we approached these special people and to learn of their joy, their laughter, their ingenuity, skills and assimilate instead of away from these special people for fear that "something bad will hit us," to detect this special message that God is waiting for you to decipher each of help them and give them the tools necessary to be able to Led their lives and remain an inspiration to many that we have limitations, especially in our minds, believing that we can achieve our dreams and to supporting those who are entitled to be also look different and be happy and make your dreams come true.
