If it is expensive, better for everyone
When the other day I spoke with my brother was proud to say that the psychiatrist with whom he serves is costing $ 500 .- per week, or $ 2,000 .- per month.
In his family always had the habit of referring to the high costs as a way to enhance their stories and role, but this time it sounded to me like that (can afford) paying a lot, he felt relieved of making any extra effort to improve their health.
I think the logic here works in reverse of what is commonly postulated (that expensive fees imposed on the patient a greater commitment to the treatment). I think that in these cases occurs as a kind of delegation to the therapist. His speech would be something like: "I compost what you charge me and ask rebate, but yes, I am responsible for everything eh! That's what you pay! "
If I call this logic perverse, not so bad because it usually adjectives in this way, but I would find some other way less worn and-therefore-more efficient.
Okay, let's try this: "This logic is part of the symptom."
Indeed, while a symptom is a compromise, ie a phenomenon that combine various interests and is the least bad solution that met the sufferer to resolve situations that would otherwise be more severe, then this phenomenon occurs that high medical fees discourage the patient's commitment is achieved:
1 .- that the patient can keep the symptoms; 2 .- with the relief of not being so irresponsible to others because "it is doing everything possible to heal ...»; professional y3 get interesting .- the economic resources, if does not arise any problem, will continue to enter a long time because this patient, so it will never heal. (There is an "urban legend." I know people who baptizes their patients according to the fate of their fees: Mr. Mutual, Ms. Contribution and Patent, Mr. Martin's College, etc.).
I have been long hypothesized that to have good economic resources in the health industry, we must become part of the symptom of patients. While it seems a form of parasitism ... well, if it is actually a form of parasitism. Anyway, not being a criminal offense within the criminal code, then it is legitimate. Those who get nervous with this idea, may also need to consult a professional as mentioned above, to share their income with him and feel the relief that they are "doing everything possible to heal ... the profit motive", thanks to which can preserve as much as the illness of my brother.
